Victoria University, located in the heart of the city, is renowned for its research excellence and modern facilities, while Massey’s boutique Wellington campus hosts the National Academy of Screen Arts, and teaches a wide range of creative qualifications as well as nursing and communication.

Visitors can explore the historic buildings on guided tours, offering insights into New Zealand’s democratic process, the workings of Parliament, and the nation's political history. Supreme Court + Old Government Building

Located in the heart of Wellington's civic precinct, the Supreme Court and Old Parliament Building offer a fascinating glimpse into New Zealand’s political history and architectural heritage. The Supreme Court, New Zealand’s highest court, is a striking modern building that sits alongside the historic Old Parliament Building, one of the world’s oldest wooden parliamentary structures. Whilst at the Supreme Court, delegates will have the opportunity to hear about careers in the courts, not just lawyers and judges but the range of other roles available. The Old Parliament Building, with its grand wooden interiors and historical significance, once housed the country's government before the move to the Beehive. Key areas for secondhand shopping in Wellington often include:

  • Cuba Street: Known for its vibrant, creative atmosphere and numerous vintage clothing stores and op-shops (opportunity shops).
  • Newtown: A diverse suburb with several charity shops offering a wide range of goods.
  • CBD/Waterfront area: Some independent boutiques focusing on sustainable and pre-loved fashion.


Te Wharewaka o Pōneke - City to Sea Walking Tour

The area where Te Raukura-Te Wharewaka o Pōneke is located was harbour frontage to Te Aro Pā, an old traditional Māori village. People going on this tour do require a moderate level of fitness. Some tracks are muddy and uneven and there are some slopes and inclines. This will go ahead in all weather so bring a rain coat.

Our friendly experienced guides will take you through everything you need to know to become kaihoe (paddlers). A unique and enchanting tour that offers insight into Māori culture. One of Wellingtons most unique experiences. This excursion is weather dependent but an alternative will be offered if the weather isn't suitable.
