The WIDE Trust is a charitable trust formed in 2018. The focus of the Trust is to benefit the advancement of education, research and development in the forestry and wood industry sectors through the provision of grants and scholarships to New Zealand students and institutions. 

The Trust supports students undertaking career-related studies in the wood and forest industry sectors in New Zealand and entities involved in research, development and the advancement of forestry and wood science. 
To date the Trust has approved grants of $5.063m to students taking up academic or vocational studies and entities undertaking research and development within the forestry and wood sectors. 
The WIDE Trust aims to build engagement and awareness of the diverse career options the forestry and wood industries offer and increase the number of young people who choose to take up careers in these industry sectors. 
The Trust supports entities such as Future Foresters, Competenz, the School of Forestry, Wood Processing and Manufacturers Association, Scion Research, School of Engineering, Toi Ohomoi Institute of Technology, School of Architecture and Planning and other organisations whose support the advancement of the forestry and wood industry sectors in New Zealand.

Through hands-on learning experiences such as free field trips, school visits, and access to career resources, we aim to grow awareness and inspire curiosity about forestry and wood-related careers.
Our programmes are delivered in partnership with professional foresters, forestry companies, and local coordinators across Aotearoa.
